December is Here!
December 3, 2012
I’m not sure where 2012 went. It seems I was just celebrating the 2012 new year, and now I am cleaning, decorating, planning lessons, and getting ready for 2013.
December is busy in the classroom. It is also an exciting time for our students. The days are colder. Some of us are looking for snow, and our children and their families are celebrating a variety of cultural traditions.
Be sure to know your students and share their celebrations in your classroom.
I wrote about this last December. December – Celebrations and Customs (Check it out for a list of classroom resources.)
I’m adding some new resources below.
Enjoy the holiday season.
Teaching Resources
- Scholastic – Celebrate Winter Holidays
- Scholastic – Celebrating Holidays in the Classroom
- Bright Hub – An Index of Christmas-Themed Lesson Plans For the Classroom
- The Spirit of the Season – NY Times Learning Network

This is so important! Don’t assume what children in your class may be celebrating. Thanks, Linda for the resources.
You are welcome. There are many celebrations this time of year. I enjoy them all and love to learn more about my students’ traditions. Do you have something special from your school?
