World Book Night 2014

April 26, 2014

#WBN 2014

What a great day. I am so thankful I was chosen again this year to be a Book Giver. What a treat to visit with high school students and talk about the importance of a love for reading. When I asked students about their first memories of reading, they started sharing their favorite picture books. “I loved reading Dr. Seuss.”  “I remember reading Clifford the Big Red Dog.”Clifford

An additional treat for me was visiting the classroom of my former student, Joe Paltzer, and meeting his engaged, articulate, and courteous students. Since this is my third year to gift books at Veritas High School in Milwaukee, I was able to renew connections with Principle  Sherry Lehman-Tolkan and see the obvious growth and energy of the school.

Thank you to Veritas High School for allowing us to visit your school and share with your students. Thank you to WBN for providing Perks of  Being a Wallflower, to my local Barnes and Noble bookstore,  and to my colleague, Linda Neiman, for providing additional books. We were able to give away around 100 books with cookies and treats. What a joy to share the love of reading person to person.
